How the SPF Contribution Calculator Oman Works

The SPF Contribution Calculator Oman gives employers, payroll teams and Omani employees a quick estimate of the monthly Social Protection Fund deduction and employer contribution. Enter the employee’s monthly wage and the calculator separates the amount payable by the employee from the additional SPF cost borne by the employer.

For wages within the applicable contribution ceiling, the current contribution structure adds up to 8% for the employee and 14.5% for the employer. The calculator also breaks these amounts down by insurance branch so payroll teams can see how the final figure is reached.

Current Oman SPF Contribution Rates

For an Omani employee covered by the applicable Social Protection Fund schemes, the employee contribution consists of 7.5% for Old Age, Disability and Death insurance and 0.5% for Employment Security. The employer contributes 11% for Old Age, Disability and Death, 1% for Work Injuries and Occupational Diseases, 0.5% for Employment Security, 1% for Sick and Other Leaves and 1% for Maternity Leaves.

The current rates can also be checked through the Oman Social Protection Fund.

How the OMR 3,000 Contribution Ceiling Affects the Calculation

The OMR 3,000 contribution-wage ceiling is relevant to the Old Age, Disability and Death branch and the Work Injuries and Occupational Diseases branch. If the employee’s monthly wage exceeds OMR 3,000, this calculator caps the contribution base for those branches at OMR 3,000.

The other active branches are calculated separately. Employment Security is calculated at 0.5% for both employee and employer, while the employer contributions for Sick and Other Leaves and Maternity Leaves are calculated on the full wage. This means the effective total percentage for a salary above OMR 3,000 will not simply be 22.5% of the entire wage.

Example: OMR 1,000 Monthly Wage

For an OMR 1,000 monthly wage, the estimated employee contribution is OMR 80, while the employer contribution is OMR 145. The combined SPF contribution is therefore OMR 225.

Example: OMR 4,000 Monthly Wage

At OMR 4,000, the calculator applies the OMR 3,000 ceiling to the Old Age, Disability and Death and Work Injury branches. The estimated employee contribution is OMR 245 and the employer contribution is OMR 460, producing a combined monthly SPF amount of OMR 705.

Who Should Use This Calculator?

This calculator is intended for estimating contributions for Omani employees working in Oman. It should not be used as a general expatriate SPF or provident-fund calculator because the coverage and implementation of social insurance schemes for non-Omani employees are different.

Employers should always reconcile the calculation against the employee’s wage and registration data held by SPF before processing the final payroll. The tool is designed as a payroll estimate rather than a replacement for the official SPF contribution notice.

Other Oman Payroll Calculators

If an employee is leaving the business, SPF is only one part of the payroll calculation. You can use the Final Settlement Calculator Oman to estimate final salary, unused leave, gratuity, additional earnings and deductions.

For an end-of-service estimate focused specifically on gratuity, use the Oman Gratuity Calculator<//blockquote>
